When making a gift online, supporters have the option to cover the transaction costs for their donation, which covers both OHS’ donation platform and payment processing fees. Donations made by check do not have processing fees. The most important thing to us is that you give in the way you’d prefer at a level with which you are comfortable.

Oregon Humane Society isn’t affiliated with any national organization. All your support of the animals is appreciated, but gifts you make to Humane World, ASPCA, or other organizations are managed directly by those organizations.

Unfortunately, we’re unable to accommodate donation pick-ups. Pet supply donations can be dropped off in the main lobby of our Portland or Salem shelters from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Yes, when you drop your donation off in the main lobby of our Portland or Salem shelters, we can provide you with a receipt.

When donating online, you can restrict your gift by clicking “Designation” and selecting the option you wish. When donating via mail, please include a note with your check indicating which program or campus you’d like your gift to support.

Active monthly donors will receive a year-end summary letter of all their tax deductible monthly and one-time donations. We also send mailed letters to donors who have let us know this is how they prefer to receive this information. Year-end summary letters typically arrive via USPS in February. 

For other donors, you will receive summary information by email no later than February 1. If you’d like a mailed letter, you can contact our team at (503) 802-6793 or email us at [email protected].

We are grateful for your donation and support of our organization. Donations are normally nonrefundable, but if you have made an error in making your donation or change your mind about contributing to our organization, please contact us. Refunds are returned using the original method of payment. 

We are only able to refund donations made within 30 days of the refund request.

OHS does not sell or otherwise make available its donors’ private information to businesses or other charities. OHS does not collect information for commercial marketing and does not share its donor list. You can read more about our data guidelines and policies here.
