After almost two years of limited access to our shelter, OHS is now open for public walk-through 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.

What days and times are you open?
Beginning Feb. 28 OHS is open to the public, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week. However, all adoptions are by appointment only.
How do I adopt a pet?
Your best bet for finding a pet is to look at our website and submit an adoption questionnaire. Our staff can help you set up an appointment if you come into the shelter. Keep in mind, that many of the pets at the shelter may already have adoption appointments set up. More information on the adoption process.
What if I don’t have access to technology?
Give us a call at 503-285-7722 and our staff will assist you.
Will you require proof of vaccination to come in?
Our volunteers and staff are required to be fully vaccinated, but we are not requiring this of our clients.
Do I need to wear a mask / social distance?
We are following all guidelines from the CDC and OHA. Masks are required in our building until March 12 when the indoor mask mandate is lifted.
What are you doing to help protect visitors?
Our building is cleaned frequently, we have plexiglass shields set up in many areas and our air circulation system is very robust to help keep the animals healthy.
Can I bring my group in to walk around?
All group tours need to be scheduled through our humane education and volunteer department. Having too many people in the kennel areas can be stressful for the animals, so group visits must be scheduled in advance.
