I Need Help With a Found Dog in the Salem Metro.

First steps.

  • Ask around locally to see if anyone recognizes the dog.
  • If you have no luck, bring the dog into a local veterinary clinic to scan for a microchip.
  • If the dog isn’t microchipped, post their photo on social networks and flyers in your community.

Next steps. Check the county where the dog was found.

If you’ve lost or found a dog in Marion County, please contact Marion County Dog Services (MCDS).

If the dog is found within the city limits of Dallas, Independence, or Monmouth, call the corresponding police department.

If you’ve found a dog in Polk County outside of the above city limits, please contact OHS directly for next steps.

**Please note that beginning July 1, 2024 all inquiries regarding stray dogs from Polk County should be directed to Polk County Animal Services or Polk County Sheriff’s Office.**
