Fundraising Tips

Make It Personal!

Let your audience know why you are choosing to support OHS. Maybe you’ve adopted your best friend from OHS, you’ve attended a training class, you just love animals, or you simply want to give back to a local nonprofit that serves the community. There are no wrong reasons, and sharing yours will help to inspire others.

Make It Cute!

Share an image of your own pet, or feel free to share images of any available animals from our website to have a furry face represent your fundraiser.

Make It Real!

Demonstrating the impact that your fundraiser will have on the animals is one of the best ways to encourage participation. Feel free to share any of the following stats to help with your messaging:

  • $30 can feed 3 pets for a week
  • $50 can provide lab work for 3 sick shelter pets
  • $100 can vaccinate 50 shelter pets
  • $200 can feed every pet in the shelter for one day
  • $500 can transport 12 pets from smaller shelters to OHS
  • $1,000 spays/neuters 20 pets

Make It Clear!

Be explicit with your intentions about how much you intend to raise or what percentage of revenue you plan to donate so that everyone participating in your fundraiser can do so with confidence.

Make It Sharable!

The more the merrier, especially when it comes to helping animals! Have a plan for getting the word out about your fundraiser and encourage your audience to share, too, so that you’ll have the most impact possible.

Make It Feel Good!

Be sure to thank anyone who donates or participates in your fundraising event so that their contribution is recognized. It’s also important to follow up afterwards with a grand total raised/donated so that everyone is aware of the impact they helped to make.
