I was surrendered to OHS in 2022 - my family got me as a puppy, but by the time I turned 3, they realized I was too high-energy. I made poor choices and kept jumping the 5' fence to sneak out. I lived outside with sheep and chickens, but never met any dog friends, so I didn't learn how to talk dog.
I spent 2 weeks at the shelter before a new family adopted me. Things were good, but they were allergic to me and brought me back after 2 weeks. They taught me some tricks, and I potty trained quickly! I had fun chasing the cat, though I'm not sure she agreed.
I went home again! This time for 5 days, but living in an apartment with stairs was scary. It was hard to get out for potty breaks, so my human wisely brought me back.
Two more weeks passed, and I got adopted again. They named me Ginger. I lived with a cat and was curious, but respected her boundaries. I was loved and appreciated for my skills, but I had a skin allergy that made me itchy. The family wasn't prepared to manage it, so I was brought back after a week.
It took over 2 months for my next humans to find me, and we spent 5 weeks together. The stress got to me, especially around other dogs. A neighbor dog got too close, and I wasn't happy about it. My big barks and lunges scared my human, so they brought me back.
Two months passed, and another family tried. Unfortunately, they ran into unforeseen circumstances and brought me back after 3 weeks. They had only good things to say about me, of course.
Then, I went home again! Everyone thought we finally found the one. I was there for almost a year, and they sent updates showing how well I was doing. But somehow, I ended up at Multnomah County Animal Services as an abandoned stray. Luckily, they recognized me and sent me back to OHS.
Now I'm looking for lucky home #8! I really like it here at the shelter. I get lots of enrichment and treats. I spend tons of time with the team; I get belly rubs and play with my favorite stuffies! I'm good at self-entertaining. Do I still get into mischief? Yes! But I'm a goofy, fun-loving gal who just wants to enjoy life. I need a human who loves the outdoors and car rides, and I'd be happiest as the only pet in the home. I need a single-family home with space away from other dogs.
If you're ready to be showered with love and affection, please come meet me! I'm part of the Diamond in the Ruff program .
