Howdy!

My name is Tugboat, named after the mighty boats, that haul big ships! Because I too am strong and motivated to get things going! I need a strong ship to steer home!

I have been working with the Behavior and Training team at The Oregon Humane Society to give me some guidance and structure. I am super smart, like most labs, I love learning new things. I have learned how to sit, lay down, stay, walk on leash, and am learning crate training! My team will teach you my skills before you take me home, to ensure we can communicate. I'm your typical lab, and LOVE to run, play, and meet new friends! I may be more active than most as I could play forever and would love to go on runs, adventurous hikes, or learn new things with you! I'm so far from couch potato!

I am quite the curious pup, fearless really. This curiosity and fearlessness have led me to seek out my own solo adventures; baby gates, short fences, and even some doors can't hold me back from the call of adventure! I will need a secure home and vigilant owner while I settle into my new home.

I don't really know what boundaries are and will rub my whole body up against you for attention! I've been told there's so much happy in my heart, I'm overflowing with it. Due to my energy and excitement level , I wouldn't do well in a home with small children, cats, or geriatric dogs.

I was given as a gift as a puppy and ended up being way too much for my elderly owner. I spent a lot of time doing whatever I wanted and now am learning how to exist in a structured life with respectable boundaries. Turns out I love structure and follow direction well!

I have had skin issues off and on that have required medication. Without them I get VERY itchy and will jump and rub on everyone and everything to satisfy the itch. Consistent management is needed to keep me satiated.

It could be with you! Click here to learn about the adoption process.
