After School Clubs – Salem Campus

Winter/ Spring 2025 Club registration now open

Oregon Humane Society’s After School Clubs aim to inspire, educate, and empower today’s youth to create a more humane future for animals. Sessions will feature socialization with shelter pets, animal enrichment crafts, and presentations from professionals of the industry. These clubs are not only FUN but they teach real-world skills that are foundational for future careers in the field of animal welfare!

Club Dates and Descriptions

Feline Friends Club – January, 22, 29, February 5, 12 (Grades 4-8) $75

Are you a young person who is crazy about cats? If so, Feline Friends Club is for you! In this 4-week after school program, you will learn all about how OHS helps cats in our community and get hands on experience socializing shelter cats and making enrichment crafts. Join us as we learn all about how to help cats live their best lives and get excited about how YOU can be an advocate for cats in our community!

This Club takes place at the Salem Campus.

Canine Compassion Club – April, 2, 9, 16, 23 (Grades 4-8) $75

Calling all dog lovers! In this 4-week after school club, participants will get to go behind the scenes at our bustling animal shelter and learn all about how OHS works to help canines in our community. We will discuss dog communication and body language, and participants will get hands-on experience socializing shelter dogs and making enrichment crafts.

This Club takes place at the Salem Campus.

Club Basics

Location: Salem After School Club is held in the Education Hall of our Salem Campus, 4246 Turner Road SE, Salem, OR

Ages: Curriculum is designed to be developmentally appropriate for 4th- 8th graders. We do not register youth outside of their grade level except to accommodate neurodiversity. If this applies to your child, please let us know at the time of registration.

Club fee: $75 (A limited number of scholarships are available. Contact [email protected] for details)

Times: Doors open for sign in at 5:15pm, with programming to begin at 5:30pm. Pickup begins at 6:55pm.

Attire: Closed toed shoes, long pants, and shirts that cover the midriff and shoulders are required for safe pet interactions. (Please note – Leggings are not considered thick enough to protect skin in the unlikely event of a scratch)

Snacks: We will provide a light snack for Club members. (Please note – Because of our interactions with animals and the environment of the shelter, we are unable to accommodate animal and/or peanut allergies.)

5:15-5:30 p.m. Doors open for sign-in
5:30-5:50 p.m. Educational presentation/activity
5:50-6:30 p.m. Animal socialization
6:30-6:55 p.m. Enrichment crafting

Scholarship Opportunities

Applications for 2025 Scholarships are available. Send us a message.

Oregon Humane Society believes in providing opportunities for all children to be able to attend our programs.  We are committed to serving as many families as possible; however, scholarship funds are limited. Awards will be for 100% of camp tuition.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

  • 100% refund 14 days or more prior to first day of program.  
  • 50% refund 7 days prior to first day of program.  
  • 25% refund 4 days prior to first day of program.  
  • No refunds will be issued 3 days or less prior to the first day of program.
