Just in time for the holidays, a senior dog gets a second chance.
Connie, a 14-year-old German Shepherd mix, came to the Oregon Humane Society when her previous owner was no longer able to care for her.
At OHS, she became a staff favorite. Our animal care team lined her kennel with soft, rubber mats, took her for short walks and showered her with love. Our medical team determined she still had some life in her and decided to place her up for adoption.
Rochelle and her husband Carlos had recently lost their two senior dogs, but found the process of caring for them at the end of their life very rewarding. They began looking for another dog who needed them, and they found Connie. They made a big, soft bed in the car and came down to OHS to adopt her. Nine days after Connie arrived at OHS, she went home. She will now spend the holidays in the loving care of her new family.
